To use online Aadhaar facilities, it is necessary to link your mobile number with UIDAI. If your old mobile number is no longer active or you need to update your mobile number in your Aadhaar card, you can easily do so. However, please note that the facility to update the mobile number in Aadhaar online is no longer available as it has been discontinued by UIDAI. You can now only change your mobile number in Aadhaar offline.
How to Change Mobile Number in Aadhaar Card?
Here is the process to change/update/ add mobile number in Aadhar Card:
- Go to your nearby Aadhaar Enrolment centre
- Fill out the Aadhaar update or correction form.
- Authenticate your details by Biometrics verification.
- Submit this form to the respective Aadhaar executive along with a service charge of Rs 50.
- You will receive an acknowledgement slip containing the Update Request Number (URN). You can use it to check the status of your update request.
- Within 90 days, your mobile number will be updated in your Aadhaar database.
Online Check Aadhar Card Mobile Number Linking Status
If you have submitted Aadhaar correction form to change your mobile number in Aadhaar, so you can check online if it has been changed or not:
- Go on UIDAI Website and Click on “Check Aadhaar Status”.
- or you can directly land their by clicking on given link, https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/CheckAadhaarStatus
- Now Type your Update Request Number which you received after submitting the Aadhaar correction form.
- Enter the CAPTCHA.
- The Status of your request will be there.
How to Verify Aadhaar Card Linked With Mobile Number?
The following are the two methods for determining whether or not your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar:
Method 1
- Visit the UIDAI website, and under the ‘Aadhaar services’ option, click on the ‘Verify an Aadhaar number’ option.
- Now, fill in your Aadhaar number and Captcha code.
- Finally, click on the 'Proceed and verify Aadhaar’ option to check whether your mobile number is linked.
Method 2
- Go to the official website of UIDAI, and under the 'Aadhaar services' option, click on the 'verify Email/Mobile Number’ option.
- Now, after selecting ‘Verify Mobile Number,’ enter the necessary details like mobile number, Aadhaar number and Captcha code.
- Click on the ‘Verify OTP’ option and enter the OTP to complete the verification process
- Thereafter, you will know if your mobile number is verified with UIDAI records.

Results of not linking Mobile Number with Aadhar Card
You will not be able to use the Aadhar related services if your mobile number is not linked with Aadhar Card. Some of these services are; mAadhaar App, All online Aadhaar facilities, Online EPF claims and withdrawal, Application for PAN card, Using DigiLocker, Mobile re-verification, Linking Mutual Fund with Aadhaar, Umang App, and etc.
